;four books that should have been made into movies yesterday

bookworm things

The success of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (with sequel announced!) and Dumplin’ speak for themselves, really. We have a market for our favourite YA contemporaries being made into movies. Fun, diverse, cute romantic comedy movies.

I think it works better that these movies have been made for a home screen rather than the cinema, honestly, and I hope that we get more of these movies over the course of 2019.

four books to movies

Here are some contemporaries I would love to see adapted. Netflix, take my money!

  • When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon.
Honestly, do I even have to explain this one? It’s like this novel was written to be made for our screens. It’s cute, it’s fun, it’s fresh – it’s just perfect.
  • Bon Bon To Yoga Pants by Katie Cross.
After Sierra Burgess, I need something a little less controversial, and while I have seen some negative reviews for this one, I’d love to see it translated into a movie. There was just something likeable about the characters to me.

  • The Zoya Factor by Anuja Chauhan.
I’m not sure whether I’ve talked about this one here, but it’s snarky and sexy, and a lot of fun. I even fancasted this after I read it, I loved it so much. Honestly, whoever makes this will get my eternal gratitude and love.
  • The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West.
Name me one person who does not enjoy the fake dating trope and I will show them the door, because I adore it, and would love to see it play out in this way. I’ve put this into the world, now universe, please don’t fail me.

Of course, none of these could possibly live up to the way I imagined them when I read the books, but I have faith that, if done right, they’d be amazing. Hopefully. I think?

Which novels would you want to see adapted for the silver screen, and do you have fancasts for them?

I almost picked up Zoya factor last year for my A-Z challenge. But I saw many negative reviews and i dropped it back on the shelves. I guess you loved it, right? So should I give it a chance?

I think you should! I loved it when I read it a few years ago. There are a few things in hindsight that might be a little problematic? But overall it was a super fun story.

I haven’t even read it yet (It’s on my shelf) but I agree that When Dimple Met Rishi should be made into a movie! I also think The Lunar Chronicles should be made into a tv series.

TLC as a tv series – but a little more respectful to the cultures that ideas were pulled from – is everything I need. (Let me know when you read WDMR so we can yell about how cute it is.)

The Zoya Factor *is* being made into a Bollywood movie. I don’t recollect who’s who, but I’ve seen the news make rounds. Though personally, it was a DNF for me when I read it like 5 years ago . But, I’m hoping to pick it up again soon and see if I’ve changed my mind. :p

I remember reading that a few years ago but it hasn’t gone anywhere? So I put it on the list, haha. I hope you enjoy it if you pick it up again!
