instant to-read; the sci-fi edition
I generally enjoy science-fiction stories. Fantasy is my favourite, and a blend of sci-fi and fantasy even more so – but science-fiction is pretty high up on my list of ‘genres I like to read’.
But while I was putting this list together, I realised there were fewer ‘instant’ buttons than ‘handle with care’ ones, so this post is going to be pretty short.
- Space
, the final frontier*. Books set in space, with humanity spread among the stars is almost always a draw for me. Spaceships and traveling from planet to planet, with survival and life being the goal. Give them to me. Bonus points for any books involving space pirates. - Another thing I have enjoyed is time travel! Give me books where time travel is based on science, where there are rules and consequences, where it mixes history and science and technology.
- A subset of traveling through time is traveling through dimensions! I’ve not seen as many books regarding parallel dimensions as I would like, and if I have they usually are more fantasy than science-fiction, but more about the consequences of messing with time and the fabric of space, and just – more please?
*I don’t actually know much about Star Trek but I love the quote.
What science fiction tropes are your favourites? And recommend me some diverse science fiction books you absolutely adored!

Time travel and parallel universes always excite me and make me want to keep reading more science fiction as well. I realise how much I love the genre but don’t read it enough DD: That needs to change!

SAME. I love the ideas, but honestly haven’t found too many that execute them well. So I tend to think twice with sci-fi…
