CONTENT CREATION 101: Commit To What You Create

I’ve learnt many lessons over the years of creating content. Not all of them may work to you. Experimentation – trial and error, figuring your own path – is something everyone should do for themselves. But if any of these tips that I figured out for myself help you in any way? I’ll be glad to have helped out.

One of the first of these lessons was that when you start creating something, you should commit to it.

If you are not confident in your content, if you are unhappy or unsure in any sort of way about what you are putting out there, it shows.

It shows if you are second-guessing your work. It shows if you do not actually like what you are producing. It shows when you are not excited about your content.

Whether it is a piece of artwork, a story. A poem or even a joke. If you are not happy with it – and you are not working on someone else’s timeline – do not post it. Not yet.

Take a step back. Take a breath. Reassess.

It might take you longer than you would otherwise like, but until you feel passionate about what you’re putting out there, until you feel confident about it, keep it to yourself and the people helping you figure out your content.

I posted an infographic with my last post, a joke that I found funny and that made my point for me. In a way, I committed to such an extent on that joke, I procrastinated in actually making it!

And I was comfortable posting it because I was happy with the joke.

Ultimately, that is how it should feel with your creating. You as the creator, should feel happy about it. Passionate about it.

When you commit to your content, it shows in your work. Your audience will notice it, and it will make them want to engage with it.

And isn’t that what we want as creators?

  • What sort of content do you create?
  • Are you passionate about what you’re creating?
  • Do you agree that you need to commit to your content?
  • What does committing to your content look like for you?

Let me know if this resonates with you!
