CONTENT CREATION 302: Know Your Audience

Most content creation advice blogs start with this topic. Especially if you plan on monetising your content. However, I’ve been approaching this series as someone who wants to encourage creativity for creativity’s sake. CONTENT CREATION 301: Burnout Happens

I honestly did not think I would find more things I wanted to share about content creation but recently, I started thinking again about how I approach it. So even as I create stories and art and share them with the world, I wanted to be honest with myself and with others. About Fandom Discourse

The full title of this post was actually going to be ‘About Fandom Discourse and Why I Try To Avoid It’. So while I’ve cut that down for the graphic and header, I will basically only be talking about fandom discourse as it pertains to arguments with people primarily on Tumblr which is the platform I am most active on. Specifically discourse in the fandoms I’m a little more active in. The biggest thing I’ve noticed about fandom discourse  is that many times – most of the time – people rarely argue in good faith. When I say people, I mean those people who will jump on (usually correctly tagged)…

    A Lookback: Ko-fi 2022

Yes, I do realise this is a very similar post to the recent My Ko-fi Journey I put up at the end of December. This is absolutely not me avoiding the blog post I wanted to write but was unable to figure out the words for. No sirree. (Except it absolutely is, and fingers crossed I can actually articulate what I wanted to about internet discourse for that post to go up in a couple of weeks.) As you may know from my last post, in 2022, I managed to stay pretty active on Ko-fi. By keeping to a manageable schedule – three times a week – and breaking things…

    5 Tips For Planning A Kid’s Party

We recently celebrated kiddo number two’s second birthday. In the past few years, we’ve had to figure out ways to make the day special for the kiddos, a way for them to enjoy the day. Even now that things have opened up again, it is still a learning curve to making sure their special day is one they spend happily. Since I’ve started having to plan children’s birthdays, I’ve learned a few tips and tricks that I try to implement to make the time leading up to the big day easy for everyone. A way to ensure that the kiddos – both mine and any invited (or spent with) are…

Hallmark Presents; December Movie Rec List

We have officially rung in the New Year. And I am still watching feel-good Hallmark and Lifetime movies. I don’t think this particular hobby is going anywhere any time soon. Hallmark’s Countdown To Christmas and Miracles Of Christmas events drew to a close in the second last weekend of December 2022. It took me a while to sit down and watch the ones I’d wanted to, but now that I have, I’m back with part two of my recommendation list! You can find part one, covering the first half of the holiday events, here. Movies marked with ‘*’ are movies that lived up to my (quite high) expectations. Movies marked…

    My Ko-fi Journey

With all the drama and confusion happening over on yonder parts of the Internet, I’ve not managed to sit down and actually articulate what I am doing, and what I plan to do on Ko-fi. It’s been just barely a year since I started getting more active on the site, and I’ve seen a wonderful bit of interaction with my content there that has been encouraging. Can you believe I’m a Ko-fi Ambassador? I still can’t! The thing I’ve noticed with Ko-fi is that having a schedule has helped me stay on track. Since I’ve started using the site more, I’ve kept to a three-times a week schedule, and it…

Hallmark Presents; A 2022 Movie Rec List

Earlier this year, when I came down with Covid, I wrote a post about how I was watching a lot of Hallmark movies. This has not really changed. For the past few months, I have been watching so many of these feel good, predictable movies because – as much fun as Netflix romcoms can be – Hallmark (and Lifetime) movies have an earnestness most Netflix movies lack. They laugh with you, even the ones that are genre aware, never at you. And because I’ve been talking about this A LOT with friends, some of them have asked me for recommendations for the days when you just want a pick me…

    CONTENT CREATION INTERLUDE: Imposter Syndrome

The thing about creating is that no two people have the same approach to it. So sometimes, when you hear or read something that works for someone else, and it does not for you, it can be – discouraging, to say the least. Demoralising, even. CONTENT CREATION 203: ‘One Size Fits All’ Does Not Apply

If there is one thing I’ve learned over the years of writing and content creation, it is that everybody has their own methods and approaches. Even all these posts I’ve been making are things I have read or learned from other people, adapted for myself, while disregarding other pieces of advice that did not work for me.
